Chapter 7 -
Internet Scams
Real World Case: Scamming the Scammers
As a competitive hobby, scambaiting has a
scoring system, and all scambaiters keep a running total of how much
money the scammer has wasted on postage and Danielle is nearing the
$1,000 mark.
Here is a sample of one of her e-mails, telling
the scammer that they have been scammed:
My Dearest William Lewis,
I regret to tell you I have sold the
Mules....over 2 months before you first contacted me that is.
I had a wonderful time with you. See, not all
people are as foolish as you might think. There are plenty of us
that know your type of scams. I do appreciate you sending me the
money order and phoning me and spending some of that hard earned
cash you have scammed off of other unsuspecting people.
The money order was phoned into the bank on
which it was drawn off of the minute it was received and then it was
turned into the local police department.
From your first email I have been posting this
on my web site for people everywhere to laugh at. Myself and others
will continue to waste your time and have you guys send us your fake
money orders and spend your cash until you get so tired of it and
find a real job.
By the way, if you decide to get a real job,
you can be my stall boy. If you decide not to get a real job, at
least go back to school and learn to spell if you are going to
continue scamming.
